Head of Benin - Eweka
Material: bronze alloy
These are reproductions of the originals from the ancient kingdoms of Benin in present-day Nigeria.
They are made using the lost wax technique.
The kingdom of Benin is linked by tradition to the Yoruba people. Its founder was, it seems, Eweka, a prince linked to IfÉ, considered by both Benin and the Yoruba to be the sacred city, the one that houses the skulls of dead sovereigns.
