Tikar Klo Stool
Measurements: 46x14x19 cm
This vintage piece from Cameroon was used as a headrest. Its purpose is not to rest the head to fall asleep, but to serve as support for the neck to protect the hairstyle of African women.
These small objects, which rarely exceed 15 or 20 centimeters in height, are usually artistically sculpted or soberly made according to the rank and culture to which their owner belongs. Typically constructed from a single piece of wood, they are true works of art.
The Tikar are a very creative ethnic group from the central provinces of Cameroon whose artistic production has characterized them since ancient times.
